Sober living is structured, substance-free housing for people in recovery. It is not clinical treatment. Renovia Sober Living offers apartment-style homes in Wilmington, NC where residents live while they build a stable, independent life. To live here, residents must be enrolled in a licensed recovery program. It does not have to be Renovia Behavioral Health.
Treatment is the clinical work. Sober living is where you live while you do that work, and after it ends. Residents living at Renovia Sober Living and attending Renovia Behavioral Health’s outpatient program get a free daily shuttle between the two locations, about three miles apart, so getting to treatment is never the thing that trips you up.

Renovia Behavioral Health and Renovia Sober Living share a name, a philosophy, and a free shuttle that runs between them. You do not have to use both to use either. They are linked by design, not locked together.
Renovia Behavioral Health
The clinical work happens here. Renovia Behavioral Health provides outpatient PHP and IOP treatment, weekdays 8am to 4pm. This is where the therapy, groups, and clinical support take place, separate from where residents live.

Renovia Sober Living uses licensing agreements built for a recovery setting. There is also a house manager path, at a reduced rate, for residents further along in their recovery who take on responsibility for a home.
Also due at move-in: a one-time $250 application fee and a $400 security deposit.
Meet The Director of Sober Living
Ben Davis, CADC, CPSS
Ben Davis brings more than 20 years of experience to the recovery field. His own recovery shapes his clinical work, giving him a grounded, firsthand understanding of group facilitation and structure. Over the course of his career, Ben has served as a crisis intervention counselor, adult educator, vocational rehabilitation instructor, recovery residential housing manager, peer support specialist, program director, case manager, and certified drug and alcohol counselor.
Ben studied human services at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and Central Piedmont Community College. His approach draws on evidence-based practices, including logotherapy, solution-focused therapy, reality therapy, choice theory, and the 12-step recovery model.
Ben combines his personal recovery experience with his professional training to support people on their own path toward healing.

Do I have to be in treatment to live there?
You have to be engaged in a recovery program, but it does not have to be Renovia Behavioral Health’s program. Any legitimate program counts, confirmed through a signed release of information. Many residents do attend outpatient treatment here, and the shuttle makes that an easy fit, but it isn’t required.
Is marijuana allowed if it is legal where I am?
No. Renovia Sober Living holds to full sobriety, including marijuana, regardless of whether it’s legal where you’re from. The same goes for alcohol. Even where it’s legal, it isn’t allowed in a sober living environment, for the benefit of everyone’s recovery. The standard is sobriety, full stop, and it protects every resident’s recovery equally.
